12 - 14 May we went with the Fried family to Khutse Kalahari Lodge at the eastern gate of the Khutse Game Reserve. It is a three hour drive, 220 kms north-west from Gabarone, and is the final frontier before one enters the renowned Central Kalahari Desert and Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The lodge is only reachable by 4x4 and we believe the Land Cruiser was happy to finally show us some of it's potential.

The ‘Bushmen’ are the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa. They are traditionally hunter-gatherers and have lived in harmony with nature for the better part of 20, 000 years. The ‘Bushmen’ have supported themselves through various hunting methods and found fruit, nuts and roots. They live in temporary homes made from wood that they have gathered

It was a fantastic  bush experience with game drives, bush walks with a San Guide (Bushman) and amazing starry but cold nights.
